We frequently have been asked to judge English speaking contests in the evenings. This one not only had Chinese students but some from Pakistan and one from Liberia. (Americans aren't the only ones taking notice of China.)
We're usually treated like Honored Guests, seated in the center, invited to ask questions, present awards, etc. Afterward we're given small gifts.
